Aug. 7, 2013:  Wed., 18th week, Ordinary Time

 

NM 13:1-2, 25–14:1, 26A-29A, 34-35  Princes show fruit, report after 40-day reconnoiter of Canaan:  “land flows with milk and honey, but people are fierce giants and towns fortified, too strong for us."   Community wails.  Lord:  I've heard the grumblings against me.  You'll suffer 40 years, realize what opposing me means, die for your crimes."

PS 106:6-7AB, 13-14, 21-22, 23  "Remember us, O Lord, as you favor your people."  We've sinned, forgotten your works, tempted/forgotten God who saved us.  Moses turned back God's wrath.

MT 15: 21-28  Jesus heals Canaanite woman's demon-tormented daughter:  “Have pity!”  “It's wrong to throw children's food to dogs."  "Dogs eat scraps from masters' tables."  "Your faith is great!"
