September 13, 2013: "Golden-mouthed" St. John Chrysostom 

Readings

• 1 Tm 1:1-2, 12-14  Paul to Timothy:  I'm grateful to Lord Jesus Christ who strengthened, trusted, appointed me, showed me mercy.

• Ps 16:1b-2a, 5, 7-8, 11  "You are my inheritance, O Lord."  I take refuge in, bless, set before me the Lord who shows me the path to life.

• Lk 6:39-42  Can the blind guide the blind?  Hypocrite, remove the beam from your eye to see clearly, remove the splinter in your brother’s.

Question mark tie pin:  Jesus' questions:  Can a blind person guide a blind person?  Will not both fall into a pit?  Why do you notice the splinter in your brother’s eye, but do not perceive the wooden beam in yours?  How can you say to your brother, "Let me remove that splinter in your eye," when you don't even notice the wooden beam in your own? (gospel) [Also for a meeting today in which asking the right questions will be critical]
