November 15, 2013: Friday, 32nd week, Ordinary Time
Readings- Wis 13:1-9 All ignorant of God were foolish. God, creator, is more excellent than their idols, created things. God-seekers are distracted because the things they see are fair.
- Ps 19:2-5ab "The heavens proclaim the glory of God" through all the earth.
- Lk 17:26-37 On the day the Son of Man is revealed, don't go back for what you left behind. Lose life to save it. Some will be taken, some left.
- Pope Francis tweet: Dear young people, always be missionaries of the Gospel, every day and in every place. [Usually I draw from his homily or audience, but today Mass is later and there's no audience.]
- Creighton: Imitating Christ, dying to self, loving/serving others, not getting our way, fighting our inclinations is a struggle but leads to life.
- RC.net: The return of the Lord is certain, swift, unexpected. Don't be caught off guard. You can't outsource your duty. God's judgment is good news for the ready. Is my hope firmly in God?
- Universalis: St. Albert the Great, O.P., peacemaker, ex-bishop, universal doctor, medieval thinker, teacher of St. Thomas Aquinas
- Marian retreat, day 10, per St. Maximilan Kolbe: Separation looks forward to union. Mary+Holy Spirit: Mary does God's will perfectly. God wills us to be perfect.
