November 16, 2013: Saturday, 32nd week, Ordinary Time
Readings- Wis 18:14-16; 19:6-9 When all was still, your all-powerful word bounded, filled every place with death, reached to heaven. Creation was being made anew, that your children might be preserved.
- Ps 105:2-3, 36-37, 42-43 "Remember the marvels the Lord has done!" Sing praise; God, remembering word to Abraham, led the chosen with joy.
- Lk 18:1-8 Dishonest judge gives just decision to importunate widow. God will do justice speedily. When the Son of Man comes, will he find faith?
Reflections
- Pope Francis homily: Strong Lord fiercely defends, saves us. Our strength is prayer: to lament our problems, ask for freedom. Lord is weak before people's humble prayers. Pray, ask, knock at the heart of God daily. Widow never tired, was brave. Pray for the needs of Church, humanity. God listens.
- Creighton: Persevere in prayer. Trust that God will do justice.
- RC.net: Persistence pays off. Hope; don't lose heart. Am I confident in God's love, care, providence?
- Marian retreat, day 12, per St. Maximilan Kolbe: Mary, "Mediatrix of Grace," can help us align our will to God's.
- St. Margaret of Scotland, queen, mother, reformer gener
- St. Gertrude, religious devoted to Sacred Heart
- St. Edmund of Abingdon, reforming bishop, peacemaker
