July 10, 2014: Thursday, 14th week, Ordinary Time
Readings
Music
- Hos 11:1-4, 8e-9 When Israel was a child I loved him, but the more I called them, the farther they went from me. My pity is stirred, so I won't vent to my anger, for I am God not man. I won't let the flames consume you.
- Ps 80:2ac, 3b,15-16 "Let us see your face, Lord, and we shall be saved." Rouse your power. Take care of this vine, and protect what you planted.
- Mt 10:7-15 “As you go, proclaim: ‘The Kingdom is at hand.’ Cure the sick... Without cost you've received; without cost give. Travel light. When you enter a house, wish it peace. If you're not received or heard, leave and shake the dust from your feet; it won't be easy for them on judgment day.
Music
- For the psalm

- Save us, O Lord/ Dufford
- Lord, make us turn to you/ Haugen
- Lord, make us turn to you/ Marchionda
- Freely, freely/ Owens (country version) (gospel)
- Creighton: Jesus endows the apostles with power but asks them to be vulnerable (no money, pack, or sandals...) Jesus combined healing and kingdom proclamation in his own mission. Travel light, not burdened by stuff, and focus on relationships. We depend on God for everything.
- Passionist: God must mourn over us all as we turn our backs on God who gives us everything. But when we choose to do something concrete to bring healing, hope, and peace to someone, we make a difference in the world and strengthen our relationship with God.
- DailyScripture.net: Jesus commissioned his disciples to proclaim and to act with power, to do the works he did, to share what God has given us, to be dependent on him, to respond responsibly.
