For Psalm 27
In honor of our Jewish brothers and sisters beginning their Passover celebration tonight: Chozensix13's Passover tribute, from Frozen's Let it go and Do you want to build a snowman?
    • Is 42:1-7  Here is my servant, my chosen one, upon whom I have put my Spirit; he shall bring forth justice.  The Lord, creator and lifegiver, says:  I have called, grasped, and formed you and set you as a covenant, to open the eyes of the blind and to release prisoners and those in darkness.

    • Ps 27:1-3, 13-14  "The Lord is my light and my salvation."  My foes stumble and fall.  I will trust, not fear; I believe I shall see the Lord's bounty in the land of the living.  Wait for the Lord.
    • Jn 12:1-11  Jesus came to Bethany, where they gave him a dinner; Lazarus reclined at table with him.  Mary anointed Jesus' feet with costly perfumed oil and dried them with her hair.   Judas / Jesus: “Why wasn't the oil sold and the money given to the poor?”  (He held the money bag and used to steal from it.) / “Leave her alone.  You always have the poor, but you don't always have me.”  The crowd found out that he was there and came for him and Lazarus; many were believing in Jesus because of Lazarus.

      • Creighton:  I take pride in my constant activity, so I relate with Martha in today's gospel.  Like her, I can become frustrated or critical of those who don't “work.”  When Martha grumbled to Jesus about Mary’s idleness, he responded, “There's only one thing worth being concerned about, and Mary has discovered it.”  I need to be at Jesus' feet.  Work is good unless it takes my away from my relationship with God.  May we spend more time anointing Jesus' feet and show more grace to those who already do.
      • One Bread, One Body:  "Hey, waiter!"  We wait with courage for the Master's return though we can't see it, it seems to take so long.  We choose to persevere.  Serving the Lord and others is a big part of our waiting.  We wait in love; love changes waiting from drudgery to delightful anticipation. ("If it takes forever, I will wait for you.")  We wait in joyful hope.  Our life is waiting for the Lord with service, courage, love, hope, and fullness, living to the full.  When we wait like this, we already have what we're waiting for.  May we wait for the Lord by waiting on him.

      • Passionist:  When I look at my country, I'm afraid.  People are destroying Jewish cemeteries, burning mosques, ripping off hijabs, telling immigrants to go back to “their own country,” and keeping vetted refugees out.  People are hoarding, not sharing.  Jesus is the suffering servant, bringing justice for all, serving, challenging, and sacrificing so others might be free.  This is our call too.  May we stand with the poor, heal the sick, feed the hungry, and serve everyone.  God cries as Jesus is crucified today.  We can help by writing Congress, supporting organizations of justice, asking for pointed homilies, expanding parish outreach initiatives, hosting interfaith gatherings, publicly declaring inclusive views, and meeting, learning from, and supporting individuals of other cultures and faiths.  Fear can be driven out by interaction allowing us to see other as folks like us.  Jesus didn’t give up, even in the face of powerful opposition.  May we find new ways to live out the call of the Suffering Servant....
      • DailyScripture.net:  "Extravagant love for Jesus":  Mary does something which only love can do:  spend her most precious thing on Jesus; her love was not calculated but extravagant.  She was oblivious to all around her as she loosened her hair to dry his feet.  Jesus showed us his extravagant love in pouring out his blood for us and anointing us with his Spirit.  How do I show him my love and gratitude?  Judas, likely chosen to watch the purse because of his financial acumen, because of his greed viewed her act as wasteful.  Our greatest temptation may come in the area of our greatest strength....
